Birth Charts: A Good Way to Analyze Business Partnerships?

While all might be fair in love and war, that doesn’t mean all is fair in stars and birth charts. The way to make your intentions known used to be a “you up?” text after 10 pm, but the new pickup line sweeping the nation seems to be, “What time were you born?”

It could be said the birth of a company involves less physical exertion than the birth of a human, but I’d argue the mental and financial costs are relatively similar. So what can a company’s “birth chart” say about its future? Can we predict promising business ventures based on chart compatibility between two companies? I have no idea, but here at Visor, we figured it couldn’t hurt to give it a shot.

Our popular integration partner is Atlassian’s Jira, so we took Visor’s birth chart and tested its compatibility with Jira to see if the stars truly do align.

Visor was born on May 11, 2016, in Cambridge, Massachusetts. Mike, our Founder, received the official email for the business registration at 5:15 p.m., meaning Visor is a Taurus Sun, Mercury, and Venus, Cancer Moon, Libra Rising, and Sagittarius Mars. There are definitions for each of these planets and their significance is at the end of this article.

Taurus Sun

Taurus natives are known for working hard (when they are working). Taureans are represented by the bull, meaning they can also be stubborn or hard-headed. Tauruses work with a steadiness that is dependable, plodding, and steady, but rarely quick.

Cancer Moon

Cancer Moons are rarely detached. They seek familiarity and security in everything they do. They seem to be hesitant to change, as it impedes the sense of safety they seek out. Cancer Moons dislike anything superficial and are known to be devoted and accommodating.

Libra Rising

Those with their rising, or ascendant, in Libra can be incredibly persuasive, though it will usually be with a “soft sell” approach (or a PLG approach, amirite?). The tendency to put being a nice person over making money is one of their biggest detriments. However, they are great mediators and very accommodating.

Taurus Mercury

Those with their Mercury in Taurus are faithful to their ideas. They are discreetly opinionated and persistent. They learn best through their senses and can struggle with the traditional education system. They enjoy making it as easy to get from point A to point B in as few steps as possible.

Taurus Venus

Taurus in Venus projects itself as solid and comfortable. They need a certain measure of predictability and dependability in their relationships, even if their Sun sign is more spontaneous.

Sagittarius Mars

This Mars placement struggles with being a bit of a flight risk. They don’t always have the patience to wait things out, and they can be restless and adventurous–often pivoting from project to project with multiple going on at once. Their vision and optimism can get in the way of completing what they start, and they trash good things too quickly once a new idea takes over.

Jira 1.0 was released on April 10, 2002, by its parent company, Atlassian, which was founded the same year in Sydney, Australia. The official release time is unknown, meaning we don’t have Jira’s rising sign, but otherwise, Jira is an Aries Sun, Pisces Moon, Aries Mercury, Taurus Venus, and Taurus Mars.

Aries Sun

Aries natives are the first to start and finish whatever they set their minds to. They are direct, straightforward, and uncomplicated. They are not interested in long, drawn-out, emotional moments. They live simply and in the now. Impatience is a vice, but innovation is their main strength. They enjoy a challenge and are happiest when life has forward momentum.

Pisces Moon

Lunar Pisceans are known to have their head in the clouds (Jira Cloud, literally). They have acute intuition and excel in perspective. There is more to them than meets the eye, but they are often accused of being “out of touch” with reality or “absent-minded.” There could be potential issues with escapism.

Aries Mercury

Those with Mercury in Aries make quick decisions and can easily motivate others with their enthusiasm. They can enjoy a good heated discussion and have active minds that are quick to understand complicated situations. They are resourceful and may prefer to jump into a decision with little patience for pretense.

Taurus Venus

Taurus in Venus projects itself as solid and comfortable. They need a certain measure of predictability and dependability in their relationships, even if their Sun sign is more spontaneous.

Taurus Mars

Contradicting their Aries Sun and Mercury which are all about impulse, this is where we see how the planets start to play together. While Jira might prefer to jump into things head first when it comes to learning and communicating, their actions lean towards the “slow and steady” idealogy of their Taurus Mars. They might talk the talk, but they take a little bit longer to execute the things they’re promising. They have well-defined long-term goals and the determination to achieve them.

Jira + Visor = Love?

What does all this mean for our two lovers?

Visor Conjunction Jira – Venus/Venus

With both platforms having their Venus in Taurus, this means that Visor and Jira have complete respect and understanding for each other’s relationship style. It is difficult for them to offend one another, and when conflict arises (like a JQL query error), it is usually a quick and easy fix.

Visor Sextile Jira – Sun/Moon

Sextile means motivating, which means this is likely to be a significant relationship. There is a feeling of belonging to one another and it creates an innate loyalty that will keep the two together through difficult moments. It’s a strong indication of a profound union.

Some potential challenges

Visor Square Jira – Saturn/Neptune: While Visor can help organize or direct Jira, this might cause some resentment.

Visor Square Jira – Jupiter/Saturn: The two may be too different to complement each other, but they have a lot to teach each other if they are both willing to compromise and learn. Effort should be made to understand each other’s point of view.

Visor Opposition Jira – Moon/Lunar node: Strong but difficult connection. They could encourage one another’s bad habits or make each other feel smothered if not careful.

Swipe right?

What do you think? Are the stars in our favor with Jira? Should we send Salesforce that “you up?” text later tonight? Or do we go back on the dating apps and find a new partner to integrate with?

Maybe I’m a little biased, but I think Jira + Visor is written in the stars. Xoxo.

Not everyone nerds out on stars as much as I do, so here’s a brief (very brief, other star people– don’t come for me) overview of what all this stuff means.

  • Sun – the Sun sign is your identity or the overall ego. It is the essence of the entire chart and can change the way other planetary energies are expressed.
  • Moon – the Moon sign is your emotional identity or “inner world.” It is also how you tend to present when you are at your most vulnerable or comfortable.
  • Rising – the Rising sign is how you present yourself and how your personality is expressed toward others. Basically, the rising sign is how other people perceive you.
  • Mercury – the Mercury sign determines how you think, learn, and communicate. It is also the planet that rules how you interpret and exchange information.
  • Venus – the Venus sign is notoriously called the “love” planet, but it’s also about your values in relationships. Venus is about how you both express and receive love and what things you value in partners and intimate relationships.
  • Mars – the Mars sign is all about what gets your riled up. Whether that be arguments, intimacy, or a combination of both, Mars decides how your motivation and ambition are expressed.

These are the words most commonly used to explain how planets in two charts are related to one another:

  • Conjunction – positive, synthesis, concentration
  • Opposition – negative, conflict, challenge
  • Square – depends on the partnership, could be a challenge or opportunity for growth
  • Trine – positive, an easy and flowing relationshipSextile – challenging, but in a “can do” sort of way. Sparks motivation.
